Model of Carelmapu Ship Pre-wreck at Wickininnish Inn

Visit Wickaninnish Inn to view W.G. Bellanger's detailed model of the Chilean ship Carelmapu was wrecked on Gowland Rocks off Vancouver Island during a violent gale, with only four survivors from the crew and passengers. Efforts by the steamer Princess Maquinna were thwarted by 50-foot seas, and dramatic photographs of the ship’s final moments were captured by passenger H. H. Tanner.
