Owl Brings in the Day is a 16 by 12 foot mural created by Prince George artist Mercedes “Merk” Minck for the CN Centre. Using vibrant colours and a stained glass inspired style, the piece highlights the connection between local wildlife and the community. Given full artistic freedom, Minck says it quickly became one of her favourite works.

The mural reflects her lifelong love of the outdoors and the wilderness surrounding Prince George. Though she began as a graphic designer, a trail map project led to her first mural commission, and her artwork can now be found from Colorado to Vancouver Island. Minck credits her sister and mother for their support throughout the process.
